Squirrels

There is a squirrel that is digging a lot of holes in my front yard looking for food he thinks he buried there before winter. Chat Icon What can I use to get rid of him? My dog barking in the window does nothing Chat Icon

Re: Squirrels

Funny you mention this... we have discovered tons of holes in our back and front yard. I never thought it could be from squirrels. How big are they?

Re: Squirrels

They aren't big or deep. You can tell a small critter used their paws to search for something. I haven't paid attention to the backyard. I imagine they are hungry given the cold and snowy winter!

I think I know someone that might be able to help....

I'm sure he can take care of squirrels, too.... Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Seriously, though, I'm not sure. I don't think it will last long, since as soon as everything starts growing, it will be easier for the squirrel to find new stuff, instead of digging for stored stuff.

Get the garden hose out, and convince him that it's not worth the effort?

Re: Squirrels

I don't think too much. I just accept them at this point, too many to control or even try.

Re: Squirrels

Its annoying... They dig through my garden and i find little holes everywhere!! My neighbor really dislikes them and sets a trap for them on his patio and will set them free a few miles away in hopes they dont find their way back... Chat Icon

Our landscaper said that Fox urine helps and that you can get it at a garden center. We haven't tried it yet.

I want to meet the person who collected fox urine and discovered it works Chat Icon

Re: Squirrels

Do you have a fenced in front yard? If yes, let the dog out..all your dog is going to have to do is chase them around a few times and they will go somewhere else.

I get NO squirrels in my backyard, all 3 dogs have a high prey drive and I think the memo went out in the neighborhood after Zoey had one by the tail and then she opened her mouth to take a bigger bite and he got away.
