WWYD? eta: Thanks, we're going to add the shelving.
We have no linen closets in our house. No idea why and it's a PITA... we actually didn't notice before we moved in or maybe we didn't care then. We have our towels in the cabinet under the sink in our master bath and sheets/other linens in the cabinet under the sink that's outside our master bath. In the guest bath we keep a few hand towels in the cabinet over the toilet but everything else is in those cabinets.
A while back we wanted to put in a closet system but now that we're selling we don't want to spend the money on it. We were thinking of just adding shelving (floor to ceiling) in one section of the walk-in closet for towels... but not sure if that will draw attention to the no linen closet thing. WDYT?

Re: WWYD?
My ex-MIL doesn't have linen closets either (she is in FLA as well, so I don't know if it's a Florida thing? LOL!), but she did exactly what you just described. I didn't think it was odd at all. I think it's better to have something than no place at all.

I think this is a good idea. We don't have one either. I bought a linen cabinet for my bathroom and I keep towels in there as for the sheets, I keep them in my closet on one of the shelves. It woks bc out closet is so big but, I would really like a linen closet.
So you decided to sell for real?

Re: WWYD?
People will notice that you don't have linen closets. I would rather have a solution to show them than have nothing at all!

Buyers will notice you don't have a linen closet once they start looking under the sinks.
So I think what you want to do above is a great solution.

Thank you, I think we're going to go to HD tonight and pick up some shelving for the closet. We need to take everything out, patch holes and paint it anyway so might as well finally put up some shelves for towels!

Re: WWYD?
i think we talked about this once b/c i have the same exact problem in my FL townhouse...my Mom and Grandma have linen closets and so does every model we look at but for whatever reason our house was neglected
when we were buying we did NOT notice...we actually kept saying how MUCH storage the house had not realizing we were overlooking linen closets! the house was vacant though. maybe if it were furnished and people were living there i would have noticed? i'm not sure...
i bought a cabinet for my master bath and i store my towels in there and then i having the smaller matching cabinet in the toilet room that holds TP - so that was the storage solution for our bathroom...when i re-do our master closets i'm going to have a spot for our bed linens/blankets...that will solve that problem...
in the other 2 baths i keep towels under the sink. there isn't much room for them anywhere else....when i turn my office/den into the "official guest room" (hopefully soon!) i think i'll put shelving up in that closet & put the bathing towels and bed linens in there...
in the bathroom upstairs i may just keep towels under the sink. that will most likely be the bathroom i bathe a LO in so i'm sure i'll find a better soltion when i need one...if anything towels may end up in the bedroom along with bed linens...
i think adding shelves in the closet is fine...as long as it looks like you have plenty of room in the closet for it....its really the only solution i can think of if you can't fit a freestanding cabinet/shelving in the bathroom.
good luck with the listing!!!
ps: does your house look different now that you staged it to sell? any new decor? did you de-personalize at all (i always imagine that to be the hardest part, removing pictures and stuff, i don't think i'll want to do that!)
again tons of lucks!!!

Re: WWYD?
my townhouse on LI had no linen closet either. We had a large walk in master and it had the old style wire organizer system. One short wall was all shelves which was perfect for all towels & bed linens.
In our house now there was no linen closet upstairs but we are adding one in our master reno that we are working on now.
My townhouse was a 2 bedroom/2 bath & I think most people buying those are first time buyers & they don't notice Besides your house has so many drool-worthy features for them to focus on!

Yea we are going to do the shelves in the closet, I think it'll look good and the closet is very big so it won't take away much space. Plus, DH is going to install another level of shelving above the top shelves we have since there is just empty space up there.
We haven't really staged or de-personalized it yet, we're working on fixing the litttle noticable things that we were too lazy to do once we had DD. We're going to leave our picture collage up in the foyer and the ledges in the area outside our master but we'll take down other little frames and things around the house. As for decor, we're keeping that as is... just bought some nice flowers and flower boxes for the balcony out back and that made a huge difference! It looks so inviting out there now.
