Town of Brookhaven and Driveway Aprons
Does anyone know if you need to get this approved by them ? Someone mentioned that the town owns 4ft of your driveway and you need to get it approved by them??? Makes no sense, anyone know?

Yes, you definitely do. We submitted a request to have ours replaced though, and while it took a while, they did replace it for free (obv just cement; nothing fancy).

Wow what ! So how much of your driveway did they replace? We have a cement driveway now and our bottom definitely needs to be replaced, if I can get this done for free I will be so happy !! How long did it take for them to do it? Did they set up a day with you? Like did you know they were coming ?

Just the apron--maybe like 4 feet? I called because it was done wrong, and kept scraping my car. I was told it could take a year or so, but I kept calling  and was persistent (home on maternity leave with time to spare ), and they did it within a couple months. We had no idea when they would come. one day i came home from work and it had the caution tape so we couldn't pull in. It's not a fast process, but it was free!

Good to know. I called before and they told me it would be a long wait, like years. So when I said well what do I do if I want to fix myself... of course the answer is get a permit. Ridiculous !!!
