PSA- Large amount of E-mail address stolen today-BE CAREFUL!!!!!
Ok, so Many companies use the SAME e-mail marketing company to send out stuff to us.
Last night this company had a LARGE breech. The result was that e-mail address were stolen.

What this means is SPAM..but not JUST ANY KIND OF SPAM!!!
What it means is they will be sending a great deal of "personalized spam" like "dear Jane, we see you havent logged into chase.com in a while. Please log in to make sure your account stays active".
What you need to know is, now with this security breech, you must NEVER EVER click on a link fro your Bank, Target, TIVO, Best Buy, Citibank, US bank.....the list goes on.
NEVER NEVER clink on a link. Be VERY vigalant. They KNOW you now. They KNOW where you bank, what you buy. They will try and trick you with PERSONAL e-mail from many companies that look real!!!
All you EVER need to do is type the web address in. Never click on a link.
Just be careful!

While its certainly not great, its certainly not the worst. They only got email addresses not other personal info. I think in this case, its great to be aware, but a little common sense goes a long way here.
What does amaze me that ALL of these companies used the same ONE company. So if there ever was a breach....it effects almost every single person in the US. Talk about putting all of your eggs in one basket.

A friend of mine in Virginia got a new ATM card from Bank of America with notification of the hack in yesterday's mail. It appears they are not taking any chances.

I got the email too from Ethan Allen. And I also noticed I have been receiving more tricky spam that I suspect is related.

I haven't received any spam email from those companies.. just the regular emails about discounts, etc.
but I did receive 2 emails from the "express postal service" about a package... it has a zip file attachment... and mentions something about a package being returned (doesn't say what PO or an address or phone number). it asks you to open the zip file to print it and bring it with you to get your package.

it's a virus. for sure.
it's not at all legit.
I'm very careful with these types of emails. and the wording of it along with the lack of information was a red flag for me.
I actually googled the email and it is for sure a virus. there are all warnings for it.

yes... and it's one that eats your windows if you have a PC.
I didn't open the attachment. I received one last week and one this morning.
I'm actually waiting for like 5 packages too!

I received a few "postal" related e-mails last week. Today I received something from Chase Bank about a breech in their e-mail info system.

we got an email at work that these "postal/packages" emails were all virus's and that we are not allowed to open any that come to our work address OR check our personal email accounts for a while..

I got one of these too... to warn you. then it said as a reminder verizon will never ask you for your account password, etc....
it's good they are sending that out though to warn people.
There really are people who fall for the phishing scams and now that they have your name to go with their email scams....

I haven't gotten one of these emails but a co-worker went to log onto Bank of America's website today and a pop-up appeared saying that they needed information from him due to a breach in security. It asked for his Account #, SS#, Password, Drivers License #, birthdate, and other information such as this.
Scary how many sites have been affected!

ummm Not for nothing but ANY email I have ever gotten from ANY company that asked to sign in (had links) I would ALWAYS get out of the email ASAP and went directly to the site to see if there was something wrong. This is nothing new in my eyes. So why is it such a big deal all of a sudden? I thought it was commonly known NEVER to open a link from a email, that you did not request? So can someone tell me what the difference is?
