Did you sell your house but not really WANT to?
We are putting our townhouse up for sale soon, just need to meet with the REA. We did a lot to it, mostly DIY so we feel attached to it and sad about selling since we really love it. If only it had a backyard and ONE more bedroom...

Well I'm not selling a house, in fact we are in contract to buy our first house. But I think it's only natural to feel sentimental about your home, especially a first home with so much DIY. You made a beautiful home and I think your family has plenty to look forward to in your next home.

Re: Did you sell your house but not really WANT to?
yes. we love our condo. we love not having to mow lawns and shovel snow. everything is brand new and to our taste as we picked everything from moldings and appliances to cabinets, granite etc.
we have to move since we are only in a 2 bedroom and quickly outgrowing it but we will miss it
whatever you purchase, you will make it YOUR home im sure and you will love it just as much!

Re: Did you sell your house but not really WANT to?
After all the thought and care you put in to your first home it's only natural to feel attached. You had your first baby there and it's definitely hard to walk away from all the memories. It's bittersweet. I remember moving from our first home and although I thought I didn't "love" it, when it was moving time I got really sentimental. My advice is to take lots of pictures, allow yourself to mourn, and look forward to your next house having all the things you want and love! good luck

Re: Did you sell your house but not really WANT to?
We renovated, and while I'm excited for things to be "new", and have more closets and better situated living space - I was very sad when the project started since it was our first house, and the place where we brought DS home to from the hospital.
ETA - It's weird for me - I grew up in the same house my parents still live in and they did some minor remodelling here and there but, nothing huge.

Re: Did you sell your house but not really WANT to?
ohhh i love your house! i'll be soooo sad to see you leave but i'll be waiting to see what you do in your next house
i am very attached to my house b/c like you we have done a lot of things here and we plan on doing more - most of all i like our monthly payment and that is the biggest factor in us being in this house - b/c it gives us a lifestyle where we can still save, go out and do things and not really worry about $ - otherwise i'd want to move into some of the new construction houses they are building in my community we can't afford them but i drool over them
did you start looking yet? i think you'll feel a little less sad when you start looking at houses....i think you'll get excited about the potential new house and that will make it a little less sad...we go to open houses for fun and some of them make me forget all about our house

and one other thing...
when you do sell your house and someone else loves all of your hard work i am sure it will feel VERY satisfying....especially if you make a good profit on all of that sweat equity...

Re: Did you sell your house but not really WANT to?
Yes! I loved our home but there was a chance that it could devalue because of what they might have built across the street. We could not afford for that to happen as our home is a major investment for us. Also, we wanted to be off of a main road in an area with sidewalks, etc.
I LOVED our house and was sad. We JUST moved into our new home and it feels like home already- so now I am happy.
It was where I brought home our babies, rocked them in their cribs- but we will have a third baby to rock in our new home so we are blessed and I am grateful.

Re: Did you sell your house but not really WANT to?
Thanks! I am excited about the possibility of a new house with more of the things we want and the potential profit we could make with the sale, but we're procrastinating actually putting it on the market b/c we love it.
I think b/c we're finally fixing all the little things that we've been putting off to get it ready to sell... we put up the flower boxes on the balcony with nice colorful flowers, cleaned the grill, swept/scrubbed the balcony and we hung out out there last night for a little and I felt so sad at the thought of leaving.
Maybe nobody will buy it which is a huge possibility with the market down here.

Yes... I love LOVE LOVE our house... and now that all the renovations are completed and it's staged, I fell in love all over again.
But I'm committed to a better school district for my girls, so I just keep telling myself it's for the best...

No not at all. My bff is closing on their new house in a few weeks and the house they got for the price is unreal. My IL's have been looking for the last few months and we've been going with them sometimes and that's what got us thinking about selling. We could get so much for our money now, it's such a buyers market down here... IL's looked at about 10 houses and 8 out of the 10 were foreclosures!
Our monthly payment now is ridiculous, if we were to rent it will prob be way higher than our mortgage pymt!
