"They brought out the penguin plates every year, but it wasn’t until just now that Gary recognized the lusty and sad tale of adultery and single parenthood depicted in them."

So funny!! Besides being so witty, it pokes fun while reminding you that the staged stuff in the catalogs is just staged stuff. Living life like a PB catalog is an elusive feat. Surely Elaine & Gary's kids never run on their $700 rug in soccer cleats.
