Gift for a Nun question?

DH & I are going to my aunt's 50th Jubilee next weekend (it's her 50th anniversary being a nun), and we have no idea what to give her. We both figure money is probably the most common gift, but I would love to get her something special to commemorate the event. I'm drawing a blank, and then I'm also thinking that since she is responsible for paying for her car herself and her own clothing maybe money would be the best gift to give her. Her convent is paying for her party, so that is covered already.

Any thoughts?

Money would probably be appreciated, as they don't have much (my aunt just celebratedher 45th jubilee). A gift card for a nice restaurant or a bookstore might be a good idea.

I think that I would give money that way she can use it towards her expenses.

My aunt had her 50 th jubilee a few years ago and I made her a collage of pics from when she began as a nun up until the present. She loved it bc it showed how far she has come and all the different places she's lived.

As for a gift I don't know about money since my aunt took a vow of poverty so I felt weird giving get cash. I believe I gave her a Gc to a restaurant or for a massage.

We gave my aunt cash. She likes to travel and go out to eat once in a while. I also found an old picture of her and made it into a card and she loved it.

I wouldn't give cash since she has taken a vow of poverty.

My aunt is a nun and I have given her

note cards, stamps, etc.
CVS gift cards since she takes a lot of pics to use towards photo development
g.c. to a restaurant

for her jubilee all of my cousins wrote her a letter of some of our favorite memories, we put it all in an album for her.

I know my aunt has given many gifts that are more extravagant away as she is not comfortable keeping them due to her vow.

Thank you for all of your suggestions! That was my biggest concern about money and the vow of poverty so I will definitely consider the thought of a gift card or some other personalized gift.

every year on my sister's bday i sent her cash.
it is her "vacation fund"
one day there will be enough in there to take a real trip.
The convent gives her one ticket a year to see family...other then that, they are on their own.

She loves GCs for bras...so we get her kohls gcs for christmas.

take her out to dinner one night
my sister loves it when my parents do a dinner and movie with her.

if i see sneakers on sale for her, i pick them up.

gc for haircuts also.

- Magazine subscription to a publication she is interested in
- Bookstore GC or a kindle ...( don't know if that is too extravagant)
- Framed family photos from different points in life
- Gift card to Itunes if she is a music lover
- Amazon GC ( something for everyone there)
