Help! Bird stuck in my attic

No idea how it got in there... What do we do?

At first we thought it was a squirrel when we heard it, so I we brought a trap up (so we could catch & release safely).. but since it's a bird, it's not heavy enough to set off the trap door. He went in, ate the food and hopped out again.

I feel bad, his little bird friends are hanging around my roof chirping at him.

Suggestions?

Re: Help! Bird stuck in my attic

Check the vents to your attic. We had a bird that had broken its way into our attic that way. When it left, DH put up really small mesh wiring on the inside and had to put up a new vent. Try removing your vent and letting him get out-then repairing it.

You want to keep the birds out-they carry mites.Chat Icon

Thanks for replying!

DH couldn't seem to get the vent off, it's fixed to the siding & there are no windows to open up there Chat Icon

I think the bird must have squeezed through there & can't squeeze back out. Unless there's another hole we're not seeing..

Hmmmm....the only other thing I can think of is to use a net of some sort and release it. I don't know if that would harm the bird though.

Didn't think of a net, it may come to that.. it's either that or I'd have to leave the closet access hatch open & hope it flies down & right out the bedroom window.. which seems unlikely & I'd rather not have a bird flying around the bedroom Chat Icon
