Documentation for Mortgage Approval
I'm concerned about identity theft and just wanted to see if this was really a normal request. The mortgage guy asked for copies of drivers license and social security cards, among other things, but these seem to bother me the most. Im like you have our ssn from the tax returns, do you really need copies of the card too? Did you need to give these too? TIA

We had to give copies of our licenses, but not our SS cards.

I can't remember if I gave a copy of my SS card, but I know I gave a copy of my license.

i gave a copy of both but that was only when we were fulling applying for a mortgage , not when we were trying to get preapproved...

I think we did the copies of the licenses and he had our social security numbers (didn't make copies of the cards though)

with wells fargo, we did not need copies of SS cards. we did supply copies of license
