Took the Stony Brook Hospital tour today...
DH and I went today to take the tour and I am glad I went. I feel not as nervous seeing everything and knowing where I am going. The nurses we did meet were so nice. New wing is so nice. Also for any summer SB mommas to be the new L&D is opening in July.
For anyone wanting to take the tour they give it at 5pm on Saturday and Sunday. To set up a time to take the tour call 631-444-4000. Call m-f 9-4. HTH!

what did the rooms look like? and the TVs?
were they big? I was there last time, but before the upgrade.

Nice size room with the hospital bed then a nice reclining chair for DH/SO. Opens up into a bed for them to sleep in at night. Flat panel TV on the wall. Huge bathroom with granite, separate glass shower. Looks like a hotel. They have room service anytime you want from 7am to 7pm. Then they have a fridge by the nurses station to get apple juice, orange juice and turkey sandwiches anytime you want one.
We saw two fresh baked babies. One was going for a little ride in their rolling bassinet. So tiny!

You know what's funny?
When I was there in July 2009, the "new L&D dept" was opening "within a month". pfffffft! not so much.
I'm actually willing to bet its not even open when I go deliver this one.

i delivered at sb last week and the l&d doesnt even look close to being halfway complete they seriously have to get a move on to get it done by july!
but the post partum floor is awesome !!!
