Coordinating furniture
I need new coffee tables for my living room and basement. I want to coordinate with some existing furniture and need help.
Project #1 Living Room My In Laws ordered us these end tables/dog crates for our living room. I'm excited because they will free up a bunch of space in our very crowded living room space.
I already have a unit under the TV that is a very dark cherry/expresso type color. I feel like adding another wood for the coffee table will make it a mess and finding an exact match to the dog crates will be difficult. Could I do a black coffee table? I have a stand for my turtlle tank in the room that is black. My couches are brown and curtains, toss pillows have blues in them.

Re: Coordinating furniture
Project #2 Basement The basement is half playroom and half relaxing/living room type space. It is all open but there is a support beam on the ceiling I kind of use as a dividing line.
I have these for the girls toys on the playroom side.
I also have a file cabinet, that is on that side.

This is my couch but I do not use the pillows in the photo. I have light blue and beige pillows that match the walls and couch.

Re: Coordinating furniture
For the living room, I wouldn't do the black coffee table. I don't think it would "go" with all of the wood and your brown couches. I would just try to match the coffee table to the end table/crates generally, if not an exact match, or I'd get it in a cherry wood color to match your tv console/cabinet. You already have 2 different woods in the living room -- which I think is fine (I don't think everything has to be "matchy/matchy" to go) -- but I would just stick with one of those 2 wood tones/colors for future furniture.
For the basement, would you consider a round coffee table? I think it would go well with your sectional, and also, if your kids are little, you don't have to worry about anyone falling into sharp corners (since it's also a play area).
