Re: questions about in-ground sprinklers

i dont think so...we blow them out ourselves. i think thats just to make sure there is nothing left in there that can freeze. im pretty sure you just turn them on when you are ready to use them.

dont quote me on this

Re: questions about in-ground sprinklers

i know that my mom's guy has come in the past to turn them on, but when he hasn't come in time my mom has turned them on herself. there isn't anything special that the sprinkler company has to do. so you could probably turn them on yourself when you are ready.

i turn mine on every year just turn on the water and set the sprinklers to run program, the one good thing the sprinkler companies do is walk around and check all the heads.

do you think I should call, being this is my first time? I feel like such a moron. I grew up with using a sprinkler connected to a hose and having to move it every few hours. Chat Icon IGS are so new to me.

I have them come back and turn it on. Then they check all the heads to make sure everything is ready. It doesn't cost much.Chat Icon

Re: questions about in-ground sprinklers

If you dont have them do it, you will have to do it yourself. That's no big deal as long as you know how to operate the sprinkler box and turn on the water. However, having them come, they will ch eck to make sure all heads are working, etc. Often after a winter season something doesn't work right and a head needs to be changed or adjusted. So if they start it up, they can take care of that. Otherwise, we would just turn them on ourselves and call if we had a broken head.
