HGTV Looking for LI Home Sellers
HGTV is seeking Long Island couples with tough-to-sell properties for “The Unsellables,” a show that airs at 10:30 a.m. Thursdays. The local episodes will begin taping in April.
HGTV will provide a major clean-up, targeted makeovers and landscaping help to cluttered, dated or otherwise unsightly homes to make these “unsellable” properties sellable. To be considered for the show:
• The home must be owner-occupied. • The owners must be a couple under age 58. • The home must be off the market after an unsuccessful listing that ended within the past four months. • It cannot be a short sale or in pre-foreclosure. • The owners will have agree to list the home with Prudential Douglas Elliman Real Estate.
Prudential's Sabrina Teplin, who is based in Huntington, has been chosen by HGTV to do the preliminary screening of candidates this week and will be accepting 10-minute interview appointments today through Friday. For an appointment, call 631-549-1330, ext. 225.
After the initial candidates are chosen, HGTV will make the final selections.

Pretty cool. I like this show.
But I wonder why this matters?

my guess is they want their audience to be able to relate to the couple- and the average age is definitely under 58 (probably more like 30-45)

Makes me want to put my house on the market just so they will come decorate my house.

Re: HGTV Looking for LI Home Sellers
I would love to do this but I haven't had my house on the market.
If I could fix it all up I could definitely sell it.
But alas, not enough funds to do all of the work.

I would guess that some older people may be less inclined to make some of the changes required to make a house sellable as they're more stuck in their ways.. and Sophie might look meaner if she's telling an older couple that their decor is not right (not that 58+ is super old.. but you know what i mean)

Wow! That's kind of awesome. Although sometimes that show makes me a little nuts because of all the idiot people going in to look at the house and commenting on the staging and paint color

That was my first thought.
