if you have a patio set with comfy detachable cushions

I love those conversation sets , but what do you do about the cushions?

It seems like a pain to always have to haul them out whenever you want to use them...and I'd worry if I were at work and it rained or something and couldn't get them inside.

what do people normally do?

We keep them in the garage and take them out as needed and then put them away each night.

I only bring them in when there is going rain all day. They are meant to be outside.

I put them in the shed near where the table is. Not a big deal. Only takes about 5 minutes, and DC help me, so it goes pretty quick.

My plans are to get one of those plastic bench seats/storage bins. That way, I'll have extra seating, and also have a convenient place to store the cushions right next to the table, and not take up space in my shed.

I need to get something to put them in-- you really should bring them in each night if you want them to continue to look nice.

I have seen a decorative storage bench, but it was like 300 or 400-- and that's just too much for something like that. But, I don't just want a rubbermaid thing out there.

I have one of those plastic container thingies to put them in - it's right next to the table.

It's not that big of a pia - they stay cleaner that way too!

we bought one of those nice looking rubbermaid trunks/chests that you can flip open and throw them in. You can also use it as a seat/bench!

We bought this set last yr, and have never taken it inside once. It's been rained on countless times, and it doesnt smell funky and is not moldy at all.

AFter it rains, i will flip the cushions, just so the sun can dry the bottom. It's stayed nice so far, it's been outside year round.

My MIL kept hers out all summer. She also has it under a canopy.

We either throw a cover on ours or put them in the roll out storage thing we keep in the shed. It only takes few minutes.

we keep them in the shed. We only take them out when we are using the chairs and then when we go in each night they go into the shed.

But my DH is also OCD about this stuff and takes our patio chairs into the shed each night too!

ETA: taking the cushions in doesnt bother me. We have had that set for 6 years and it still looks great so its totally worth it for us! And our shed is just on the other side of the yard so its not really inconvenient.

We bought furniture covers and we cover it the cushions on it after using it.

We only take the cushions off for the winter. We store them in the basement.

We currently have 2 of these (we have a lot of deep seating cushions):


DH is going to make a small shed for the cushions eventually.

We take out the cushions when needed and I tend to put them away at night. Cushions can be the most expensive part of an outdoor set, so I try and keep ours in decent shape. I don't want bird poop, water or the sun ruining them. We've had them for 5+ years and they still look as good as new.

We have alot of cushions and we bring them out when we are having people over on the weekends. If its going to be nice out sat and sunday and we are having people both days we will leave them overnight

They actually fit in our mudroom and before the guests leave we ask if everyone can take a few cushions in, and my DH is in the mudroom closet putting them away

It works out well
Yes its annoying but it keeps them nice

Right now since we need the mudroom for jackets and coats for our guests the cushions are in the attic
