short cervix, bed rest, cerclage anyone?

I'm 19 weeks and on bed rest with a shortening cervix. I go back to the doctor tomorrow and I'm a nervous wreck. Need some positive experiences out there. TIA

i'm on a watch for a short cervix...i go for cervical sonos every week or 2 to keep an eye on it. so far im ok but i have read here that many girls have it and bed rest has helped them so you may not have to go forward with a cerclage. stay positive

I had the same issue.
The twins are putting too much pressure on my cervix and it started shortening at about 16 weeks.
they monitored me for 2 weeks and saw that it wasn't getting better and at my 19 week appt I was pushing the cervical limit at 2.5 and the cerclage limit of 20 weeks so I decided that I was going to go through with the cerclage.
It was the best thing I did.
I was scared i would end up on bed rest until the end of my preg and I would go crazy.
After my cerclage, my cervix actually lengthened back up to 3.0.
now I'm over 24 weeks and I work normally and at night I come home and take it easy.
But, having the cerclage gave me peace of mind. I know my babies are safe in there and the cerclae is keeping them secure with no risks or bacteria getting to them.

They also caught my shortened cervix at 20 weeks and i was put on bedrest right away...i never had a cerclage put in since my placenta was also riding very low and they were scared that it may rupture, so bedrest it was...after 3 weeks or so, my placenta moved away from my cervix and it was just the shortening cervix they had to look after...

It was a long 4 months, and every other week i had a dr's appt and sonos so it was very relieving to know that i was getting checked very often...

I'm now 39 weeks...and off of bedrest since the beginning of this month and i thought as soon as i went off bedrest, i would have given birth! Not in my case! For some reason, this LO does not want to leave the oven!!!

Good luck with bedrest, it sounds like it will be forever ( i went thru my son's 3rd bday, Thanksgiving, Xmas, New years, and my birthday on bedrest) but now that i am at the end...it was well worth it!

I have all 3! My cervix was short due to a lee procedure I had done a few years ago and last week I had he cerclage...i had less of a cervix than we thought so im on bed rest for the remainder of me pregnancy

I do know a lot of women who have it done and have no problems so don't be nervous just remember to trust your doctor and do whatever they say to do.

ETA: My cervix was already short at 18 weeks at 2.9 and it went down to 1.7 at 20 which is why the doctors wanted it done.

I am on watch for a shortened cervix due to a keep procedure but I have only gotten checked at 20 weeks and I am getting checked again on tues at 28 weeks idk why though I'm not being monitored closer together but maybe cuz I was fine at 20 weeks???? Good luck
