Do you feel your house shaking when it is windy?

In the past few weeks we have a had a couple of very windy days/nights. Do you feel your house moving at all when a wind gust hits it? I am so freaked out by how much movement I can feel on the second floor of my house when the wind hits. We dormered our house 6 years ago so it is all new siding and roof, but the other houses near us are all 1 story and not many trees very close so we have no buffer for the wind. Just trying to see how common this is.

Did you replace the insulation and sheetrock downstairs? We used to be able to feel the breeze through our front wall but now that we insulated and put in new sheetrock we cannot feel a thing

Yes, I was really nervous when we had that really windy day, I think Friday? The house shook and creaked. I didn't feel a breeze but you can feel the wind hit the house

on the farm yes...but there were no trees, the house was a piece of junk and its all farm land around.
in town...nope! i hardly even hear the wind!

My house is a relatively new home. It was built in 2001. My house was shaking in the wind the other night. It was a little frightening. I don't know if it's because we are close to the water but it just sounded like the wind was beating on my house.

Thanks for the responses. At least I am not alone. It is def not a draft/breeze issue. On the second floor you can actually feel the house sway/shake when the large wind gust hits. I am confident in how the house was built since it was all to code and had hurricane rafters in the roof. However in the house I grew up in I never remember the house having that much movement. I think the problem is not having a good buffer of trees or other 2 story homes next to us. Makes me nervious about if we ever did get a strong hurricane.

I feel the same when it's windy but my DH says I'm imaging it. After our expansion, our house is now 30' high and all the houses around us are much lower. We are right near a T-intersection so we get a lot of wind. I really hate windy days now. I know our house was built properly (my DH was checking it out every day and of course it passed inspection) but it still makes me nervous.
