Poem of the Day - My Kitty
My cat rubs my leg
and starts to purr
with a soft little rumble,
a soft little whirr,
as if she had motors
inside of her.
I say, "Nice kitty,"
and stroke her fur,
and though she can't talk
and I can't purr,
she understands me,
and I do her.
soft and warm, and sings,
and likes to play with twisty things
like yarn and strings
or bouncy balls.
He also thinks bare trees are nice,
especially if they move like mice.
It's safer, when he wants to play,
to keep your shoes on
(at least partway),
and offer him some other toy
instead of you.
A leaf, or just a shadow,
will do.
