The strange things your toddlers do when frustrated...
So when Riley doesn't get her way and gets pizzed, she does one of three things:
hits her head with both of her hands bites furniture or even the molding around the doorway (that one is new ) and her latest...pulls her hair out. That one upsets me...
Please tell me this is all normal and reassure me that they're not horrible habits she will have for a lifetime!! I was a biter myself- not of others, but myself, as a kid. I'd also bite objects and whatnot.
Please share the strange ways your toddler vents frustration. TIA!

Yep, my 2 yr old always bangs his head on everything and also bites pillows and swings them from his mouth side to side like an animal. It's just a phase.

When DS does not get his way he has his tantrums.

It is so fustrating.

All of the above.
It's hard to watch, but I ignore it and try to redirect him with something positive.

J was hitting her head or pulling her hair for a time. I varied between ignoring it (I'd have to leave the room because it really is upsetting to watch) or telling her to stop. She eventually did stop, by around 16 months or so.
Now she just screams bloody murder, which makes me insane. At least the other two things were quieter.

DS will throw himself backwards and bang his head on the floor. If he's being held he'll swing back his head and try to headbutt you.

I'm right there with you. He hits his head with both hands, hits his head on the floor, wall or whatever is closest. Once it was the highchair.
I introduce a pillow to take his aggression out on, but he doesn't fully get it.

Oh thank god, I thought I was alone - my son just turned three and when he's really frustrated he will hit his head with both hands in fists. Then one day he SLAMMED his head on the floor. He really hurt himself. That was the last incident - I think he really scared himself. I am hoping that's the end of the hitting of the head.

DS cries and he throws himself on the floor. His body gets all limp so we can hardly pick him up. He also throws things at times.

GG throws herself on the floor, or throws her toy on the floor... OR she will grab hold of the pillow/blanket/couch cushion and squeeze really tight. My favorite is when she 'swats' at the air. Go on with your bad self girl... at least the air won't hurt you or get hurt!

Re: The strange things your toddlers do when frustrated...
Emerson just screams "Nooooooooooo" at the top of her lungs. I just walk away and she gets over it though in like 2 seconds. Occasionally she will hit or throw something but she knows it's wrong and the second she does it she apologizes and then she's over it.
