Door Locks and Handlesets

We are looking at handlesets for our entry door. They are basically just a deadbolt, no double locks. I'm really surprised by this.

Do most people do this now?

Re: Door Locks and Handlesets

you just buy 2 sperate pieces....a dead bolt and a locking door handle

Most lock companies will have the seperate parts that match each other. Check Lowes they have a good selection

We just have a deadbolt on the front door. I think it's fairly common.

We also have just a deadbolt on our front door... it was how the door was when we bought the house... and I a little uncomfortable with it at first too. I still wish we has a knob with a button lock.... when we had workers at the house or the cleaning and they can't just leave and close the door behind them!

.. but it also means it's much harder to lock yourself out of the house.... Chat Icon

We were surprised by this too when we went to change ours, but it seems it's really common now (well at least in FL). There was one available in lowes that had a bottom lock too but it was that ugly brass finish and seemed kinda chintzy compared to the others but way more expensive.
