Paint for a hallway and / or staircase
I'm hiring a painter to do the staircase / hallway to upstairs. He seemed to be all about white and I am all about warming things up. Every wall in this house is white already!! I want to use BM manchester tan. I don't think it's too dark but I just would like to know what you girls think. TIA

Re: Paint for a hallway and / or staircase
I have that exact color in my foyer and going up my stairs into my loft. There are pictures in my album. I also have my office painted the same color.
It isn't dark at all IMO but adds some color

Re: Paint for a hallway and / or staircase
I have Manchester Tan for our hallway/staircase, it looks great especially against white trim! Its not dark at all, actually like it better than some of my off-white rooms because of the contrast with the trim is so pretty, we liked it so much we did our office (now turning to DS's room) the same color too.

Re: Paint for a hallway and / or staircase
I have a grey in all of our common areas (hallway, stairs, foyer). All of our other room colors have some grey in them as well. Taupe, dusty rose, blue with grey tones, etc.

Re: Paint for a hallway and / or staircase
I lean a little bit more towards the browner tones. My bedroom is lenox tan. I want to do the dining and living room bleeker beige. The kitchen, halls and stairs I would like to do Manchester Tan. The den and office I want to have a little more *fun* and use nantucket gray and nantucket fog respectively. Together the colors look like they will flow well. That's why I wanted to know what others thought of Manchester tan in the stairs. There's obviously less light so I think that's why he suggested more of a white, but I don't want white walls.

i have nantucket gray and manchester tan in my house. i really like the way they flow together. i have a townhouse with a very different floorplan - the first floor is open but it's not really an open concept (no family room/kitchen great room). you'd have to take a look at my house album to understand what i mean but i think those colors compliment eachother nicely...

I'm not a fan of all white, like plain white. I like color.
Go with what you like!

Re: Paint for a hallway and / or staircase
Luckily I had a paint sample of manchester tan. I think I'm going to use it in the kitchen, dining and licing rooms. And I think the stairs need something lighter. They are kind of enclosed with not a lot of light. I was camparing the paint swatches, I think something like navajo white is similar in tone. Thanks ladies!
