It's the biggest purchase you'll ever make. If you're not 100% happy, keep looking. There are so many houses for sale out there.
agree, don't settle!! you will come across the one that is just perfect for you, location and the house itself.

Re: Homeowners- need your advice!
Since your jobs are pretty set, and your family is gonna help you with childcare
I would defin stay in your comfort zone, nothing beats having a quick commute
Deerk park is really far from 5 towns, then forget about making a stop in east meadow before hand, could take you a long time
Keep looking if you dont want to settle on the levittown house

I would keep looking.
Have you considered Bethpage? Really nearby Levittown and you can get more house, meaning a basement, two levels, same taxes if not lower.
Not sure what's on the market but I'm in Bethpage and there are a few homes for sale.

I would keep looking. Have you really looked into schools? Would it be Deer Park schools? You might want to really investigate the area, esppecially since you aren't from the area.
Good luck, don't settle there is no reason to

Location, location location. You can change a house, you can't change a location. Make sure you love where you are.
Totally, 1000% agree!

I would pick Levittown over Deer Park every day and twice on Sundays.

Same here! The only thing I "loved" about my house when we bought it was its location!! We got a starter/fixer because it was a great deal we couldn't pass up, and we went for it because if we decided or needed to stay in it, while it is small, we are very happy with the location.

Re: Homeowners- need your advice!
I would cross out Deer Park because of the distance. Say you found the exact replicate of that house in Nassau - would you still consider DP?
Shorter commutes are priceless. What I would give to move back to my old neighborhood in Queens where I had a 45 min commute than dealing with the LIE into work every day. Theres no replacing that lost time in your life. I lose an hour of my life just getting to/from work, and its sooo not worth it. As much as I love living in the south shore of Nassau, its not worth the extra time I lose from my free time sitting in traffic.
I'd go with the Levittown house for that reason alone. Good luck house hunting!

Re: Homeowners- need your advice!
I don't know if this will help but....
I was from queens, didn't want to go out to suffolf cause everything in my life in in nassau and some queens still. I would love the add'l property, bigger house, etc, in suffolk, but knowing that we are both always going to work full-time (not teachers, not extra days off) and both work overtime alot and our future kids will be in daycare, working close to home was important and being close to some family was too (his parents are 2 miles away and could pick up our kids if we were stuck at work, my parents will be 10 miles away soon enough and our of queens). To me, the location was more important. With both of us working, when we have a sick kid or something, we are 4 miles from home and one of us can get there and if we can't family is close enough to help us. Also, with the house we work, i didn't want to waste time commuting when I could have en extra hour with my kids at night. In the end, you have to be happy with the location first, then the house, i think. but thats just my opinion.

Re: Homeowners- need your advice!
First house kept closer to families, smaller property and house than we wanted, and shorter commute. It was a "comfort zone" thing. We wound up being miserable b/c we wanted to be in Suffolk for a more suburban feel than where we were.
Just bought second house, further from family and no one around that we know, larger house and property, longer commute. But man do we love our house and our neighborhood and where we live. Best decision we made to go for our dream home/area.
