Okay, this writer clearly never had a young child of their own or did so long ago that he/she forgot things. Or has extremely limited contact with dC.
Wear earrings?!? Are you kidding me? When DS was little I would have lost one or both earlobes.
Heels? Must be a joke. Going to the grocery store or the park and chasing after a toddler hell bent on self-destruction does not warrent heels.
And the Mom jeans, not attractive, I agree, but I got tired of showing people my crack everytime I played on the floor with DS.

I like to get dressed and look nice for MYSELF and no one else.. Personally, to each their own.. I don't care what anyone wears or looks like so long as it's not affecting me or my kids..

Not a mom but i don't get the jeans what we should all wear jeans below our belly buttons do you realize how many times you bend over your azz hangs out when you have low rise jeans? I have a big butt and if i wear low rise jeans half my butt falls out of them. Sorry i will stick with normal waist jeans but then again i don't tuck in shirts. If your a mom your bending over constantly - no one wants to see your butt hanging out.

I'll be honest, after I had my son, I really made an effort to make sure that every day I was showered, hair and make-up was done, and I was dressed. Granted, I wasn't exactly dressed to the nines, but I tried to look neat and not frumpy.
Even though I was sleep-deprived and trying to lose the baby weight, it really made me feel a lot better about myself when I did this. I also felt a lot better leaving the house when I felt like I looked "normal".
I am mostly with you on this. After I had DD I showered as much as possible and always straightened my hair. I had to do it to feel human, because I didn't get out much and had a lot of weight to lose. Now when I am going out to do something with people, I dress myself in outfits and put some jewelry on and do my hair (I do my hair every day). I never put on makeup because honestly, I never did anyway.
But if I am running to the grocery store, I wear sweats. I don't care if people judge me. And I could care less what other women are wearing. And IMO nothing is wrong with wearing a cute sweat outfit, like VS sweats or Juicy or anything of that nature that looks clean and nice.
And as the author said, she never had a young child. So I don't really get why she feels warranted to give advice. Some of it was good. Some of it, like wearing heels (most of us don't want to wind up in the ER when we have to suddenly run after our DC and wind up tripping and breaking our face) and the earrings are stupid. I love big earrings. So does my 10 month old DD. After the 20th time she almost tore them out with my earlobe, I learned they are not smart to wear.

I dont think most people get dressed and put sweats on, I think it's more along the lines of not having the time to get changed out of what they wear to bed. At least thats what happens with me a lot of the time.

I can see both sides of it. I do think it's important to look nice....but I think we all get free pass days to just not care...although I try to make those days the days that I don't go anywhere and nobody sees me. If I'm going to be seen, I make an effort to look cute...it's just how I am.

I am fat right now. everything looks bad on me.
I get dressed every day. my husband HATES wearing sweats all day. HATES it.
but I feel gross most of the time and until I finally get the giddy up to fix it I won't like the way I look in most outfits.
I SHOULD start wearing make up again, but I fell off the wagon.
tomorrow is another day I suppose.

agreed. i seriously don't understand why anyone would question other people's time/clothing choices. i don't have any kids and i still don't choose to wear makeup, do my hair, or wear nice clothes. i really don't think that anyone should be judging me anymore than i should be judging people who DO choose to spend their time on this.

I simply made a comment that I feel that there is no reason someone can not throw on a pair of jeans and a shirt so they are not in pjs or sweats from the night before. I never compared having 2 kids to having twins.

I was NOT judging this woman. I was simply stating that I don't understand why someone could not just throw on clothes. Again, I am a mother so I am aware of what daily life is like with children.

Honestly I do not care how others look. I may pass judgement if someone has an odor and is dirty....
But I concetn myself w/ MY apperance and leave it at that. I think others should too!

Me personally I dont like looking frumpy and that to me is sweats etc only because I find that for ME it brings me down emotionally. When I dress up, put on makeup, my hair is nice and shiny and I have on nice clothes I feel great. I look forward to Sundays bc I get dressed up for church, maybe its the 5 year old in me but I like to look nice. I also have 2 small children and zero help in the mornings and I can still get 3 of us put together.

i can honestly say that i don't want to stand behind that MAN OR WOMAN (most recently man) that didn't wash in days at the supermarket with GREEEZY-AZZ hair that i could smell the stench of from 5 feet away (behind the shopping cart and padding my distance with looking at the magazine stand so as not to be rude).
Go out sloppy, i don't care, just wash yourself...

Where does the author say she doesn't have children? I saw the first line where the OP says she, herself, doesn't have children.

eh, whatever.
i really don't care what anyone else does, but i've had clothes, makeup, earrings, wedding rings, and usually a necklace on every day since my son was born 18mos ago.
I put my maternity clothes away a week after he was born and I left the house at least once every day from the time he was 3 weeks until my maternity leave ended (unless it was raining). Having a summer baby was GREAT.
Honestly? It made ME feel good. Human.
I still don't wear heels

Not as simple when you have a screaming child, no clothes that fit, uncomfortable in the clothes you do own b/c they don't fit right, etc.

I found this and was pretty amazed. I never had seen women fit after giving birth in my life until signing on to this board. Most didn't get out of "comfty" clothing until the kids were school age. Just figured to share this.

I never said I would not wear sweats but someone mentioned not even having time to get out of pjs or sweats that were worn the night before.
