Paver Question: To cement or not cement?

When you had your patio, driveway or walkway done, did you pour cement underneath or just use the paving stones? And either way, are you happy with the method you chose?

We need to install a patio at the very least, maybe a driveway this summer but are back and forth on whether to do the cement layer.

Definitely do cement. If not i can sink and you will get weeds, etc..

it is concrete you lay down if you want a base - if you lay concrete- it becomes a permaent structure and is taxed - so be careful


our patio is on a bed of comrpessed recycled concrete - ie broken down concrete - it looks great - does not move - we used the locking sand between the blocks to hold them - only ones concreted down are around the pool

there is an edging product that keeps them from slidin out- my father installed ours and loves concrete - but the stone guys say it is best to install the pavers ( they are made from concrete) without concrete

if you are using blue stone or other real stone product then you need to use a concrete base - our fron steps are real stone and have a concrete base

Def cement. It will keep the pavers from sinking over time
