peapod questions

i just got a $15 coupon and free delivery for 60 days from peapod.

i'm really tempted to try it especially with the bad weather. how are they with freshness with meat, dailry, and produce? will they deliver milk that expires the next day? is fruit that they delivered fresh. i'm kind of fussy when it comes to freshness.

also, how long do you have to wait for delivery? for example if i order today will i get it tomorrow? i noticed that they accept coupons. how does that work?

I have never had luck with their meat or produce. Even the bananas have bruises. I'm always emailing them after a delivery asking for a refund. The milk freshness hasn't been a problem.

As far as delivery goes, there's a deadline of like 1:30 the previous day for a delivery the next day. You can pick your delivery window, but if it's a popular time (like Sat or Sunday mornings), then once they have too many people pick that time, it's not available anymore. I usually add stuff to the cart as the week goes on. Once the cart has $60-65 worth of items, then you can reserve your time.

With coupons, you just give them to the delivery person when they give you your invoice and they deduct them from the total before they charge your card.

I hate grocery shopping, so I use peapod every week. I stop at another store for produce and meat, which is pretty much a quickie thing.

They are not perfect - I would rather go to the store to pick that stuff out. Last shipment I had a problem with the chicken breasts that I bought - They were bad and stunk so I called and they credited my account

I guess it all depends on where you live and which store the Peapod comes out of. I used them all last year when I was sick. One time I got milk that had opened in transit but I called and they credited me. I never got milk that was to expire the next day - there was always at least 4-5 days and since DH goes through it in less time it was never an issue. If you get something that is too close you call and tell them and they credit you, it's never a problem.

I never had a problem with produce either. The only thing I never ordered was cold cuts because I am extremely fussy (as is DH) about the meat is cut - we like it VERY thin and usually unless you are there to tell them how thin, they don't do it like we like.

All in all it was a great saver for me, time and money also - I don't buy extra things as I am walking around the store.

*Edit - also - great if you get all the "big" things you don't want to lug in to the house - laundry det., bottle juices/water/soda/lots of canned goods/paper towels, etc.

I haven't used it in a while but when I did use it, I never had any problems. The produce was fresh and the meat was fine. I don't really pay attention to expirations on milk b/c I don't drink it but DH never complained so I assume that was okay too.

The delivery man takes your coupons and they credit your account.

The only thing I would suggest is really read the produce label when you are ordering. Sometimes I thought I was ordering 1 lb. of bananas and I would get 1 banana. LOL So just pay attention to that.

For delivery options, I always chose the 6-10 p.m. option because we were generally home at that time and it was $1 cheaper to have that a longer wait. Without fail, they always came at 9:50.

Ive been using peapod for at least a year now. I order at least once a month sometimes more.

Produce: sometimes its great and sometimes no. But its ok bc if you dont like anything you call and they refund you instaneously.

Milk/ Dairy - never had an issue.

As previous poster said you reserve your time once you have $60+ in your cart. If you pick an OFF day you can sometimes get a delivery within a day , but if you pick a popular day like sat am you need to reserve it a few days in advance.

You can make changes to your order usually up to the last day.

For instance you have have a 3pm delivery for Monday you can make changes up to 11:59pm the night before.

I love peapod. It does have positives and negatives. I like it for the heavy things (like when the 2L bottles of soda are 1.00 each I stock up and I dont have to lug them)

I have had to call for refunds on a few different things.
They sent STALE choc chip cookes once, or sent the wrong brand etc.) Nothing horrible and customer service is great.

Lets put it this way in 1 yr I have needed only 2-3 refunds totally like at most 5.00 each.

I dont use Peapod for the same reasons. I am picky too with that stuff and could never let them pick it out for me.
