I'm embarrassed to ask but...

How do I use bleach in the wash? Chat Icon I've never used it before. My DS has been in his current sized onesies for a while, longer than any other size and they are no longer bright white. They don't have stains but they look like they have an almost gray hue sometimes, dingy I guess.

I want to make them white again. How do I do it. I have a steam washer if that matters.

I used to do this but then I read that mixing the detergent and bleach makes it less effective!

I fill up the machine with HOT water and add about 2 caps of bleach. Add whites, let it agitate for a bit then stop the machine and let the whites soak for 1-2 hours then run the machine again.

Then, when the cycle is done, I run the machine AGAIN for the shortest cycle with regular detergent, bc I cant stand the smell of bleach.

Holy environment killer, Batman!
JK...I do something very similar.

To the OP, if your baby has sensitive skin or is prone to skin conditions, you should stay away from bleach. Bleach is very harsh. Even fabric softeners are not recommended for kids with sensitive skin.

i have a bleach dispenser in my washer. i know you're supposed to use hot water with it.

i don't use bleach because i'm terrified of spilling a drop of it on my clothes or other clothes. honestly, i'd just buy new onesies than risk it.

detergent and oxyclean powder into the washer as it's filling. Let it fill about 1/4 of the way. Put clothes in. When the wash cycle is about 5 minutes in, add bleach through the dispenser. I add about one cup for a large load.

I pre-treat any really bad pieces with shout spray.

I am with you on this one. Take it to the laundromat and throw bleach in their machines.Chat Icon
