Valentine's Day normally sucks, but the best one was the first with DH when we were 17. He made me lasagna and it was sooo good. He had to make up for having dumped me on Valentine's Day four years before (we were only kind of dating at the time and granted we were children, but still, inappropriate.)

Re: A bit earlier, but what is your favorite Valentine Day memory?

One Valentine's Day when now DH and I were dating, he planned on taking me out somewhere nice (but not fancy since he had already tried that for my bday and it was an utter failure when both of us ordered chicken fingers and fries Chat Icon )

So he was planning on taking me to a restaurant but it had a 4 hour wait, so that was a no go. Then he took me somewhere else. Well, on the way there, I got a smell of chinese food (and I Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon chinese food). So we get to the second place and we put our name in (30 min wait). I didn't want to say anything about what I had just smelled and now craved, so I stood there. Well, he notices, my mind is elsewhere and asks me what's up. I say oh nothing and he says, do you want to eat here or did you want something else. I again said no, it's good here. He can totally tell I wanted something else so after questioning again, I flat out said I wanted chinese and I wanted the chinese buffet!

So, we took our name off of the list, got in the car and went to the Chinese Buffet!!! That was the absolute best Valentine's Day!!! I could have cared less about the gifts or that he was trying to bring me anywhere nice, he brought me somewhere I loved!!!

When we went back to his parent's house, his mom asked where we went and he was so embarrassed to even say. So I said where we went and how thrilled I was and how it was exactly what I wanted and everything. He was cool with it after that. When my mom asked, she said, wow, he really knows you well and that it was a great idea on his part!!!

Sad, I know, it may sound, but the way to my heart is totally through my stomach!!!

When I was little. I got this little box of chocolate that had a little plastic necklace in it. I was probably 3 or 4...I loved the little necklace.

When we were still dating there was a big snow storm one year and me and DH tropped it out to dinner anyway and when we got home my sister took a photo of us outside with these ginormous snowflakes coming down and we were just so happy and in love. The photo always brings a big smile to my face.

Re: A bit early but what is your favorite Valentine Day memory?

Maybe not my favorite but definitely the most memorable.

I was away at college in Delaware during V-day when my parents and sister went away to Florida, so I snuck home to be with now DH who I had been dating for a little over a year. He told his parents that he was visiting me at school. It was the first time we were going to spend the whole weekend together so it was very exciting! I came home Friday evening with the intentions of going back on Sunday. Sure enough, a huge snow storm hit and I was stuck at home until Wednesday morning! My parents were coming back Wednesday afternoon! I had to come up with a whole bunch of excuses why there was a parking spot dug out in front of the house. They now know the truth but were impressed that nothing in the house was out of place and if it hadn't been for the spot in front of the house, they wouldn't have known I was home for 5 days!

Our First Valentine's Day
We were 15, and walked to Prima Pasta and had a very romantic $5 bowl of pasta and then walked home. He got me one of those keychains that say "Anthony and Matilde 01/16/1998" and boxers that said LOVE MACHINE on them that I had to hide from my mother!

Then, he went to his ex-girlfriend's sweet 16 and I went home! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Mine would be the first Vday with DH, then boyfriend. We went to dinner and then to a hotel. Of course the cliche happened, room was set up with rose petals and candles but it was what in the card that melted me and actually made me cry. (which never happened before to me until then). My DH ended up getting me a watch that I had wanted that year and in the card he wrote "I am giving you the watch because it's the gift of time and time never runs out, just like my love for you"... we were dating for about 8 months and that was the very moment I knew I'd marry him !

Hooking up with my now DH. It wasn't exactly on Valentine's day, and the hookup wasn't v-day related, but I just know it was around that time.

It's not sappy, sentimental or a memory from my childhood (thank goodness! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon ), but it certainly is a great memory. Chat Icon

Re: A bit early but what is your favorite Valentine Day memory?

There were 2 good years, and none of them involved a bf Chat Icon

One year a group of about 12 went out to this irish pub in the city where we ate like pigs and drank like fish. We had a great time!

Another year, my bff and I went out to dinner in the city and it was like in the SATC movie with streamers Chat Icon

There was a sparkling wine tasting to go with the meals, and we drank for hours. I thought I would cry the whole night since my ex and I were broken up a short time, but my bff and I had a great time!!!

Re: A bit early but what is your favorite Valentine Day memory?

This might take awhile to explain, but it's CUTE so please read Chat IconChat Icon

In HS for Valentine's Day we had this thing where for a few bucks you could send a flower to someone in their homeroom and the proceeds would go to charity.
Red was love, pink was friendship, etc etc.

FH and I were just becoming good friends and he (this is the kind of person he is) sent a pink flower to all of his friends. He'd been friends with them for awhile and I was a new friend. I got a white flower. I was actually pretty hurt because I felt like it didn't mean he considered me a "friend" yet.

I'm a TOTAL moron and it took me a LONG time to realized white was SECRET ADMIRER!!!

Now he gives me at least one white flower every Valentine's day to show me he admires me..or to remind me of what a dense idiot I was! Poor thing went out on a limb and thought I was ignoring him probably!

Re: A bit early but what is your favorite Valentine Day memory?

One year in college when I was single, my dad sent flowers to my dorm room. He's not a real mushy kind of guy, so it meant a lot - nice to know he was thinking of me.
