convertible crib question

convertible crib question
the one i am interested in has a full size bed rail and guard rail for purchase.
i plan to use the crib as a bed so i assume i will need the full size bed rail but what would the guard rail be used for?

I think the guard rail is for the toddler bed configuration

Before you get to the full size bed stage your DC will be in the toddler bed stage. This is when you take the whole front off the crib and just put up the guard rail so they don't roll off the crib mattress.

question though - cant you just use any old gurad rail or it has to be the one that goes with the bed? this one is $79.99 and i just feel like thats so much for a guard rail

You know I honestly don't know. I would imagine you could but I never even bothered asking, I just bought the whole shebang that came with DS's crib and DC #2's crib. Definitely a good question to ask though.
