Big purchases & big boxes..what do you do with them?
DH insists we keep the boxes that big-ticket items come in. Like a new TV, for example.
Is this what everyone does?

If I'm not returning them, I keep the UPC code on the box with the receipt.
Then DH breaks down the box so that it can be put out with the cardboard (and broken down so that no one knows what was purchased).

I intend on saving them for at least a few months in case something goes wrong, they get thrown in the garage rafters..... they seem to never get thrown out after that

We keep them for a while in case something needs to be returned, then DH breaks them down and throws them out.

we never keep them.. if we do end up having to return something dh can get boxes from work. during the winter we end up burning the cardboard in the woodstove. other months we break them down and recycle.

Depending on the size, we usually give them to DC to play with... they like empty boxes more than $$$ toys.....

If you are planning on moving anytime soon and have space, I would keep them. I know my friends spent like $80 on a box for their flat screen when they moved.
Otherwise, toss them - we do, we don't have any storage space.

once we use the appliance/tv/etc that it came in and know it works we throw it out. i keep the receipt just in case.
