if you have a living room and a den

how are they both set up? I have a den which has a sectional couch and 2 sitting chairs and we have a tv over the fireplace. The other room is 2 couches and a coffee table and side table- but we really don't use that room. I guess im looking for ideas on what to do with that room to make it more functional?? Any ideas????

We have both and our den is our TV room. The living room is our formal LR with the fire place. It's where we put our Christmas tree too. Us, like you, don't use the formal LR much at all. When you bought your home, what did you expect to do with that room?

we have both. The pple b4 us actually tore down the wall between the den and living room and made it one big room and extended a den in the back.

Den is our TV room. Very cozy... couch, TV, some vases, pics, etc.

The great room is the formal room. Two couches and there's a bar. We're actually planning on eventually putting a fireplace in there.

We have both

The Den is where we have the TV, spend most of our time and the Living Room is more of a formal sitting area when we have company over or holiday dinners. We have an open floor plan and the living room, DR and kitchen are all connected.

For us our LR is upstairs and used more than the den that is downstairs. Maybe put a tv in the LR if you want to use it more?

Thanks for the replies. I'm not sure what to do...our neighbors that have the same model house had like a sitting area with 2 chairs and a nice pottery barn desk. So i was just looking for any other inspirations

We have a LR and a family room.

The family room has the big couches and comfy chair. A fireplace and big TV. It opens into the kitchen and we spend 95% of our time in there.

Our LR is set up as a LR: sofa, loveseat. Credenza.

We have an office right off of the LR.

I'm actually thinking of turning the LR into an office-nice big desk, nice shelving. And then turning the office into a play room with a second TV and a small pull out sofa for overnight guests (we have a lot of these, so an extra bed would be nice).

we have the same setup....I'm planning on putting a desk in there (eventually) so the kids can do their homework at it.

My grandfather turned his living room into a billiard room! When my grandmother passed, he decided to take the furniture out, paint the room and buy a pool table! Now when we go over there, there is always a pool game going on!

We have a den and a living room. They are similar in set up except the kids toychest is in teh den. Both have sofa and love seat, large Flat screen, vases. But the LR has a fireplace on the wall.

LR has a large flat screen sofas and is used mostly

Den has sofa, computer and entertainment center with games. I wanted the kids to use this room to hang out in but they just don't like it. I guess cause its the catch all room. I'm going to redecorate it and hope they'll start using it.
