What do you know about your mom's TTC experience?
My mom miscarried 4 times. This makes me worry- I don't know if that is something that runs in families. She and my dad were about to begin adoption proceedings and she got pregnant with me. BUT she was really young at the time.
Anyone else worry/wonder about their mom's history with TTC?

My Mom got PG with me while ON Birth Control...Back then it stunk!
She ended up needing a hysterectomy when I was almost 3...so she had no more and we really dont "Know" How it would have been I guess...

my mom got pregnant twice without TTC, (me and my younger sis) and one "scheduled" pregnancy (my older sis), so I guess she had no issues...

I do worry about my Mom's TTC history, since I seem to have ALL the same gynelogical issues that she does...
Both my mom and her mom(my grandma) had horribly irregular cycles their entire lives.. same with me. My grandma had entometriosis, though she went largely undiagnosed for many years - I too have endo.
Both my grandma and mom had hysterectomies in their 50s
And both of them had trouble conceiving. THey each suffered 2 miscarriages - though on a positive note, they both delivered two healthy babies..  (Grandma had my mom and my uncle.. and then Mom had my brother and me)
So realistically speaking I always "expected" that my efforts to conceive would be difficult. THOUGH at least now they have a lot of ways to help the proces along - in my Mom's time, there was not nearly as much information about TTC
It took my Mom five years to have my brother, then 2 miscarriages and then 4 years later she had me.
I just pray that I have the same outcome in the end that they both did

She had 3 boys each a year apart then me 8 years later. I don't think she had any problems and she thought she was done after brother #3!

My mom was 20 when she had me... I don't know 100% if they were TTC- she was JUST married. My parents divorced when I was 3 so I don't know much.
I know my mother miscarried 1 time after me. It was a boy (I guess she was far along enough that they knewt he sex)....
Shortly after, my parents divorced... I never really asked her about the miscarriage..

My Mom had a m/c before she got PG with me. My Aunt (Mom's sister) had a m/c before her sons - it also took her 10+ month to get P with all 4 of her children.

I am the youngest of 6, mom had 3 m/c -- one before she even knew she was pregnant, one before and one after me.... perhaps because she was older then.
DH is the youngest of 6.....so I don't think there are any problems in either family.!!

My mom had her 1st child as a surprise so she wasn't trying to conceive at that point. With me, she did have a hard time but that was because she was trying so hard. Her body was producing something that killed off the little swimmers. As soon as she relaxed and forgot about getting pregnant, she got pregnant. After I was born, she had my sister within a year. I think it is safe to say that she didn't have any trouble.

My mom had irregular periods which my sister now has and I have never had. My mom had 1 miscarriage before me and about 2 after me before she had my sister (my sister and I are 8 years apart). I never thought I would have trouble conceiving  .

My mom was always irregular- she had LOTS of trouble getting pregnant and had three miscarriages- I'm the only one who made it.
Her mom though never had trouble getting pregnant- and her grandma had 17 children in Italy! 
My cycles are always regular so I guess we'll see what happens when we start trying next year.

My mom got pregnant with me on the first try. She said she and my dad were talking about trying so she went off the pill thinking it would take a while and the next month no AF.
She said she cried for three days because she didn't think she was ready....LOL.
Same deal when they had my sister.
But I keep in mind that she was 22 when she got preggo with me and 27 with sister and she was always regular.

I don't think my mom had to try for any of us, I think we were surprises!!!
she did have one miscarriage, but had all of her pregnancies (including the m/c before she was 30) then I think my dad got snipped so it wasn't an issue

My mom was fertile mertile... She got married in Jan '76, and had my brother in Oct '76. Then she got pg with me 6 months after giving birth to my bro.

My doctor told me that your mom or other family members having miscarriages doesn't predict if you will.
That being said, I used to work for this guy whose wife's whole family only had girls. Anytime they got pg with boys, they miscarried. He thinks they have some enzyme or something that was attacking the male fetus. Weird.

That's good to know. To be honest, my worries have been based more on superstition but I also worry because I'm 33 and my cycles have been changing a lot lately. I used to be so regular and now I'm not. My mom conceived without a problem but had trouble maintaining the pregnancy. At least she had time; it took her almost five years to go to term with any of her pregnancies.

My mother was on fertility pills with both me and my brother - she was 10 years younger then I am now, I got preggo on the first shot.
I think every case is different and every one is different - so if you mom had troubles - try not to let it get you down!

My mom tried for 7 years to get pregnant and just could not. She was alwasy irregular. They were looking to adopt when my mom found out she was pregnant with me. After that they adopted my 3 sisters. I had no problems TTC, I got pregnant on our second try and have always been regualr

I agree. I know I was planned. My Mom has passed away, so I really do not know much.
My poor sister has suffered 2 MC, she is preganat 7 weeks now, we are all walking on egg shells.
