Anyone know where to get free Christmas Toys for needy kids?
Someone I am acquainted with who lives in Glen Cove is wondering where she can get a few free toys for her kids for Christmas. She has been laid off of her job and has fallen on hard times. I live in NJ and told her I'd check here on the boards and get back to her.
Anyone know?

Maybe a local church or check w/the salvation army. Not to sure but best of luck to her

There is a YMCA in Glen Cove, they might have some toys or contacts for her.

try contacting the John Thiessen fund in Wantagh. I have been donating toys to him for years. I believe it is mainly for children who are sick and in hospitals on LI, but maybe they could help and/or give you some good leads.

What about the school the kids are in?
I know the school by me collects for kids in the district.

I have to tell you, find independent store owners and just ask.
I have scored big time by doing this.
I emailed out local companies explaining there is a family in need.
I have received free art classes, gym classes, over 150.00 worth of toys, hair cut, clothes and shoes for a little girl.
clothes for the mom.
still working on movie tickets.
the worse they can do is say no, but i have found they are so happy to help.

John thiessen has gotten so big he def might be able to help. He is listed.
Do u have ages of the kids? the sexes?
also..the schools do things and they keep it quiet.

I'd also check the local fire dept, the dept in my town collects toys for needy children with in the town.

How old are they? Genders? I only have baby stuff but if that fits the bill...
I feel like b/c of what happened with that other thread everyone is afraid to offer- but I bet a few ladies around here would love to clean house of a few unwanted toys.
