Do you tip your mailman during the holidays?
Sort of a spinoff from the Home board... but now I'm curious!

I have done so for the past 5 years but this year he really upset me so he will not be getting a gift. I went to the post office with the kids in the double stroller, a 20 lb package that had a prepaid label - got to the office 1 min before closing. I thought I had 30 more minutes. On the website the closing time was 30 minutes later, but he placed a sticker on the door saying he was closing the post office at 11 am, and locked the door in my face. So no gift this year.

Nope but we just moved here and I rarely see him. He is often giving me the neighbors mail so who knows what stuff mine he's giving to them...

Nope, and honestly I do his job for him. We live in a three family house and does not sort the mail, never shuts our mailboxes.

No. I don't seem to have a regular one, and my mail is always screwed up. I live on "x Lane" and i always get mail for "x Avenue". When I handed it back the last guy i saw and explained it to him he said he didn't even know there WAS an "x avenue".  I then proceeded to explain to him where it was

Nope- he gets a salary.
My DH is a civil servant as well and he can get fired for taking a tip.

nope. It always seems like a different person is delivering our mail everyday.
We also don't tip the garbage men.
I will however tip our UPS guy.

I do, but not too much. This year we did a D & D gift card for $10.00. We do not get a lot of mail or packages.
I am still trying to figure out how to get my garbage men a tip ! I never ever see them...

No - why would I? I know it is to be nice, but it is not like he brings the mail to me while I lie in bed and opens each piece for me and reads it aloud while I drink a cup of tea! I work for the government and no one tips me!!!

question- for those that tip do u hand it to the mailman or leave it in the mailbox? we have a "regular" mail guy whos really nice, but he takes off a lot and sometimes he will have someone else deliver the mail so i was just wondering..

No. My mail person mangles the mail jamming it into the mail box. I once had to cut a small box out of my mailbox because I couldn't get it out. I live in a building...they can leave larger pieces of mail on the counter or with the super.

we do, we have had the same mailman for 10 yrs and he is great. we give $30 and a box of godiva chocolate every year.
