It's cute but the lid looks like it might be heavy, I'd be worried about squished fingers.
Also, what are the dimensions, it looks like it might be on the small side.

It's approximately 16 pounds and 16 inches high x 27 inches wide x 15 inches deep.
Good thought about the fingers..hmm..

if you REALLY love it.. you could always replace the existing hinges with soft close hinges... should help avoid squished kid fingers...

My IL's just got one for the kids toys that has a slide top instead of a heavy cover. It is their coffee table/toy storage

HD actually sells brackets that are soft closures maybe you can change them to that

I would not use a chest NOT made for children for children's storage. I read about a child being strangled/suffocated in some kind of chest, top snapped down....the chest was recalled but it was too late.
So no, unless it's a child product, not for me.

It's probably not the look you are going for, but we recently got these toy boxes for our den. They are very sturdy, I'm a big girl and can sit on them with no problem.
They are stained but you could probably use a gel or wax stain to make them darker.
