Media Consoles

I''m looking for a media console for our living room. I like these two. first one is from Thomasville...I think the price is around $1200, but that was a few months ago. Ballard''s is around $900, but they are having a 20% sale right now.

Although they are two totally different colors, both would work in my space. I think I''m just nervous about the quality of Ballard''s furniture and the fact that I can''t see it in person before purchasing.

i would go with the thomasville one... the second one, while very nice, would bother me because the cable box wouldn't be centered.... i know, i know, ridiculous. but it would bother me lol.

I have the Fredricksburg one from Thomasville for several years now and it's holding up beautifully. My kids beat it up, slam the doors, drawers etc and it still looks like it's out of the showroom. Here's an old pic but it kinda shows the color more than the Thomaville ad. It's more like a mahogany.

So my immediate thought is - would you have to keep the doors of the first console open to have your remote access the tv units? I can't tell from the picture if the middle section is screen or solid wood. If it is screen, make sure that a remote can access the box, because although I love my console, you need to be directly in front of it to change the channels.

i have a thomasville bedroom set that is fabulous! held up great for 8 years now. this spring i ordered a console table for under my wall mounted TV. i'm so not happy!!!! the main part of it is fine, but the shelves under the table are sagging...all we have on them is a cable box and apple tv and the other has a DVD player and a Wii. Totally go for Thomasville!

I really like both, they are 2 completly different looks. is your home more traditional or country?
