This whole stalking thing is so weird to me....Does anyoen really care THAT much? Then what if you ( collective you) find out it was someone really boring or you dont even know of...then you wasted all that precious time on what?
There are people out there that are really good stalkers. I am not one of them (unfortunately) but most of the fake names make it VERY easy. It's not that hard for anyone to figure out after a few searches.
So, I don't think it's that people care THAT much - I think that it's fun for people to try and figure out who it is.
I guess, I can see that it might be, I just always wonder if some of these fake names are just people who barely posted anyway and then the stalkers were like "damn, I spent time on THAT" 
Maybe its just the term stalking....

I started to research when I thought it was Kate. The thought that she was on here under a new screen name annoyed me, and then I realized it wasn't her. I still wasn't able to figure out Karma. There are some very smart chicks on this site who have amazing amazing memories ;)
The fact is this poster Karma has obviously been around for awhile because they knew too much stuff for a newbie.

I havent really been on, so I didnt see where she knew stuff, but in that situation or like you posted about Kate, I see your point...I just always wondered with previous "mysterious" posters, once you find out, I would be liek Ok , now I know...now what....( unless the poster was being nasty etc, then I would want to know )

this can't be true.
I can't imagine so many people would waste time posting here if they had to curb their tongues so much/had such dislike for the other members of the board.

Sorry but I'm so guilty of saying what I mean, what I think or what I feel (less now than before) and I've been admittedly laxed about HOW I say something and my god have I been CRUCIFIED for it. Worse, no matter how much I explain, justify or retract, its never good enough. Some even remember those posts for YEARS!
Now I've learned to just avoid saying what I mean or think most of the time. Usually someone more 'popular' will say what I'm thinking anyway so I'd rather just "ITA" and stay low.
Whether what I am going to say is truthful, agreed with or even if its the obvious truth, depending on the topic and mood of these boards, it can be construed as mean, attacking, rude, etc.
I love the avatar someone here has of two cats attacking and the line that says "a day in LIF" because sometimes speaking your mind as you normally would will earn you a quick slap in the head.
Some rather use an alternative nick, some like me just figure "oh well" and take their licks as the come.
ETA: not breaking the rules doesnt make it safe. TRUST Me.. folks still can ask for a member to be banned or whatever, thankfully LIF sticks with their rules and is great about being unbias. which is why I like it here.  Point is folks can/will make your life here difficult (also without breaking rules) if they want. Like snide comments about your child "oh you must be so proud  " etc.

Thats what I mean....I say what I think, but I think a lot about things I cannot post without full flash slaughter by the masses and or being kicked off and well its from my own experience...I read countless facebook statuses all day every day about LIF from its members saying things they sure dont say on here...I have been a round as my post count can attest for a long long, maybe too long a time, and have been at countless dinners where the subject of conversation was talking about all the LIF members and saying things that that were never uttered on here....With groups of all different people...
Its true ...but i'll lower it to 50% if some disagree....
I say to myself a lot " ARE YOU FOR REAL" ...but I dont post that, why start something when its easier to keep it to myself....I'm not alone....and I would sense someone like Karma feels the same ( in response to Barbs post)

Sweets13, I think that this thread is kind of silly. People can speculate all they want (and the few FM's I have gotten have been wrong) but I am not going to come out of hiding or anything silly like that. This name was created because I was sick and tired of people pandering to the popular posters on here. Using this name I feel that I can say what I want when I want without censoring myself. What I say might not be welcomed but at least it is coming from an honest place.
carolyns4cupcakes, you are right. But I won't say which guess is right. 
Ophelia, you are also right. I am not here because I hate everyone and wish to tear them down. Truth be told, I really like almost everyone on this site or else it would be an enormous waste of my time to keep coming here. However there are a few posters whose responses irk me to no end because their attitude says they can do no wrong, and this is where I feel comfortable telling them so.
I will continue to post on this name until I feel that it is no longer necessary, and I assume that people will either accept me being around or will ignore my posts. I do not care either way. I think it is absolutely ridiculous that this became a 3 page thread. Since when is a poster in hiding this exciting?

Point well taken. It was not a knock on you at all, just that I felt that it got a little out of hand, especially since some people took this post as an opportunity to try and start more drama by questioning why anyone would bother trying to emulate Sherlock Holmes.
