sanitizing a sponge in the microwave?
I'd like to do this tonight but have questions.
How long do I "cook" it in the microwave?
Should the sponge be soaking wet?
Do I place the wet sponge directly on the glass plate in the microwave or on something else?
any other tips?

I put it in the microwave for 2 minutes. I wet it really well and put it on a small plate or bowl so I don't have to wipe the inside of the microwave.

If you are doing it in the microwave make sure the sponge is pretty damp. Not dripping wet but not just slightly damp either.
I actually prefer doing it in the dishwasher (I do it every night when I run it). I feel like it smells clean.

The dishwasher is fine to clean, but its not nearly hot enough to sanitize. I wet it and place it in the micro for 2 minutes every few days.

I like to boil mine, I did this when DD was a baby. I read that putting them in the microwave can cause a fire.

Yes, you can microwave those too but make sure the scrubby side is down and that there's some extra water on the plate/bowl. I once singed one when it wasn't wet enough.
