Talk Down Comforters with me

I stayed in a hotel recently and LOVED the down comforter they had on the bed. I wenty to Bed Bath and Beyond to get one and there were like 120 to choose from. Are the cheaper ones okay? Do you HAVE to use a duvet? I'd like to use it as a blanket under my quilt. Can you recommend your Down comforter?

I've had mine for a while so I don't remember the name (or even where it came from for that matter) but one big thing I wanted to point out is about washing. It seems that MANY of the down comforter out there are dry clean only, which to me is a total PITA! I remember when I was choosing one to buy one of my top priorities was that it be machine washable.

Also, as far as using a duvet, I don't think there's any rule that says you HAVE to. I've known people who just use it as a plain white down comforter.

Ours is real down from May's and I LOVE IT. So warm and toasty and snugly.

We do use a duvet, I guess its not a necessity, but since the comforter is so pricey I want to protect it. This is our second year using it, and I haven't had to wash it (IDK if it is dry clean only or not). The duvet cover we wash once before we put it away - it is machine washable. I'd use a duvet to protect the comforter. Though duvets are pricey too, we got ours on clearance at macy's at it still seemed pricey to me.

The cats are not allowed on it either lol

I got a down comforter from Kohl's last year on Black Friday and DH and I loved it so much I went back again this year to get a second one. It was $25 and so warm and comfy.

We have a down alternative one from IKEA.

It was one of the warm-weather ones.

I have several different duvet covers that I switch up and wash. I'd use a cover 'just in case'. I'd never trust myself with white anything. You can get a lot of different print duvets at ikea for about $40 each.
