Anyone know where I can get a custom cut sink top?

I've had my new bathroom for a month and in that time, i've gone thru 2 cracked sinktops. I've told the manufacturer not to bother sending me anything else besides my money back...

But now I don't know where to get a new one. Anyone know where I can go? I need something durable...is porcelain better than marble? The one I have now is marble.

Thanks!

Depending how much you want to spend, you can get a marble or granite top cut from a remnant - much cheaper than a slab. We need a top for a cabinet and it's about 12.5 sq ft - I've gotten prices anywhere from $475 up to $1000 (includes all work, depends where I have it done and what material). For comparison, our cabinet is about 67" by 21".

Would you please post the names of some of the places you have spoken with or visited for those prices, because I've been actively looking and can not find anything near what you have found. Most tell me that any cuttable stone, no matter how small the remnant is the same price as a slab cut stone. Yet, I keep hearing on this board and on HGTV that remnants are less.

I'm getting prices from $50 to $80 a foot for remnants of a common stone - Luna Pearl - same price as from a slab. Some charge extra for cutting the sink hole, others include it, some charge delivery - I'm out east - others don't. It's very frustrating.

Ikea just gave me a price of $1700 for the stone itself (34 sq ft x $50), plus $250 for the sink hole cutout, $150 for delivery and another $200 if I want a 4" backsplash, so $ 2400. Another company gave me $2800, and yet another $3600.

And, for two small pieces of stone 6" x 20, definitely remnants, that I could put in myself, the cost is $200 from one granite place. It's frustrating. Thank you.
