Changing cat food?

I have been running out of the cats' Iams cat food but everytime I went to Petco, they'd be out. Yesterday, I knew I had none left and HAD to get some...again...none in Petco (but for a 1lb bag ) and come to find out that there are manufacturing issues (discontinued?). Fine, I thought I'd get it at Waldbaums...nope...not there...ok...I knew I saw it at BJs. I bought some of the wet food they like just to get me by one more day. Went to BJs and its not there either. I wound up buying a different IAMS dry food product. Will my kitties be ok that I'm not switching them gradually? Everytime I find a cat food they like, it gets discontinued

My cat is okay when I switch his food. We have the same problem. I would check their poo to see if its solid
