Light bulb broke in the fixture
I was twisting it in and it didn't go in. Now the metal part of the lightbulb is stuck in there and I don't know how to get it out.
Help!

I saw once that if you take a potato and push it in -- it can allow you to safely unscrew the part of the bulb still in there.

yep cut a potato in half then push it over the broken glass then trwist the bulb out

(Make sure it's unplugged first....   ) 
You can also use pliers. If there's nothing to grab onto, you can open them "backwards", so the outside edge of the jaws press against the metal base. You may need to put something in there with more friction. Paper, cloth, etc. Long needle-nose pliers work best. I've done this before and it does work. If you don't have pliers, scissors can work in a pinch. Same concept. Insert scissors closed, and open them until it touches both sides of the base.

thanks all...I'm going to try everything.
I have a potato and I know how to use it..stand back!
It's a recessed high hat fixture. I think I should throw the circuit to off before I try this.

Definitely throw the circuit. The potato might still work!

turn off the breaker and use the potatoe, we never believed it would work but had to do it last year and it came right out!

it's the light rigght above my sink in the kitchen! It's where I do my best chopping!
