PLASTER WALLS
So we just bought a condo that was a flip and they put plaster walls in. Why would someone do this and not just regular sheetrock?
It looks so outdated and ugly with all of the bumps but I know it will cost an arm and a leg to have it redone to make it all flat.
Does anyone have plaster walls and if so-is it a huge PIA to paint?

If there are lots of bumps and what not in the walls, they didn't do a very good job! We have plaster walls and they're as smooth as can be and have been in the house since 1940. I found them to be very easy to paint. And a lot easier to get wall paper off of, but I'm guessing you don't have that problem like we did

we don't have bumps either. i don't think the average person can tell the difference between ours and sheet rock, but these have been up since they built the house in 1931.
they are a PITA when you need to hang something or change a fixture, etc. because someone has to come in and do plaster work as opposed to buying a bucket of spackle.

We have plaster circa 1908. Its not perfect but its not terrible either.
I'm baffled why anyone would have plastered instead of sheet rocked.
Its worth gettign an estimate on skim coating to fix it up a bit, especially in rooms where it might be more noticeable.
Where do you live?
