update : thank you everyone for your posts. My nipples are all better and my boy only likes the boobies ! thanks again
HI everyone I just got home from the hospital yesterday. SO EXCITED TO GET TO KNOW EVERYONE !!!!
DS was on breast the first 24 hours and now on formula because my nipples by nature are very dry and they are bleeding heavily from the first day of breastfeeding and need to heal. He was born at 3:11am got on my boob at 4am Monday and was pretty much on it till 4am Tuesday <--- Yes my son is 10lbs apparently to keep him full thats how long he needs to be on boob.anyone have a c section and breast feed the first 24 hours then went to formula and then went back to boob how was your experience any recommendations suggestions?

Congratulations!!! He is sooo cute!
I had a c-section and I supplemented at night when I was in the hospital and then my son never had any formula again. Has your milk come in yet? The more often you put him to the breast the more milk you will make, it is all supply and demand. It is very hard at first and your nipples will hurt. Use some lanolin and try and keep them moist. If you have any questions FM me, I nursed my son for 16 months and my DD is 9 months and she is still nursing.

I agree-use tons of Lanolin and definitely let your nipples air dry as often as possible. If you don't need to wear a bra and shirt, don't.
I had to use formula for 24 hours because DD lost over 10% of her body weight. She has been EBF since those 12 ozs-my advice is keep DS on the boob. The more you do it, the faster you will heal and your supply will adjust to meet his demands. If your boobs hurt terribly, you can try a nipple shield for a little while and pump after, but that should be a last resort.

Congratluations!! He is beautiful! I had a c-section and EBF. The first couple weeks are rough. I found the football hold to work best b/c it didnt put so much pressure on my incision. I agree with the PP definitely use lanolin, let them air dry, and try the Lansinoh Soothies. Good luck!

and... welcome to mommyhood, it is the best!
i had a csection and BF, only supplemented once. it sounds like he is going to be a great eater! have your DH go to BBB or BRU to buy you some medela lansolin cream for your nipples. it will help. you don't have to wash it off before he eats either. the pain and bleeding will go away.
i used my snoogle pillow when BF'ing. it helped a lot because it didn't squeeze me like the boppy did. and it was softer than the boppy was/is so it didn't hurt my incision at all.

You really should not feed for a long time continuously. It decreases your supply and bangs up your nipples. My pediatrician said no more than 20 mins per breast. Start cycle no less than 2 hours apart. Supplement as needed with formula. It kept me sane and baby happy.

Wow he is adorable congratulations! Like everyone else mentioned, use tons of Lanisoh cream. After nursing rub a little breastmilk on your nipples, that also helps tremendously. Let your nipples air dry as much as possible (I used to walk around the house topless most of the day  ). If it's very painful, you can try the gel soothies or use a nipple shield like munchkinfacemama recommended. Good luck and welcome!!

As far as BF'ing...if you want to do it youneed to pump or feed him or your milk will dry up. Did you try some lansinoh or something like that?

Yeah i had a csection on monday the 1st he was having some trouble latching all the time...still is so i have been giving him a bottle occastionally. He's getting better with the boobs its just going to take some time. If your baby latched well from the start there probably won't be an issue. Congrats Dana. He;s adorable.
