Those with Oil -How low do you let it get?
Those with Oil - How low do you let the tank get before filling?
I'm new to oil, we had gas for heat before. It was 1/2 full when we closed in Sept. Now it's just above 1/4 (on the little gauge on the tank).
We are saving to get a new system & convert to gas.. so we prefer to put off filling as long as possible..

I would go to a 1/4 full - you can order oil in what ever amount you want - when we were getting close to replacing our oil burner - i would order in 100 or 200 gallon increments especially once youknow the date the gas line conenction is happening - we knew about 3 months out

Honestly I have no idea. We have a contract with Petro and they come automatically. I have never run out of oil (knocking wood that I don't).

I've gone as low as about 1/8. Usually I'm on regular delivery so I don't run out.
Don't fill, jsut get COD for 100 gallons or so.

We are also on automatic delivery now so you would think we wouldn't run out but ya never know.
Anyway, prior to moving to SC we didn't fill up...we let it go to about 1/4 or so and get 100 gallons COD.
