Converting to gas...
We currently have oil and we aren't huge fans...our neighbor pulled the line within 100 feet of our property line, so we're considering changing over to gas...
anyone done this? How long does it take? What can I expect it to cost?

The same thing is happening with me! A neighbor just paid to bring a gas line in right in front of my house. I talked to National Grid and they said that I have to fill out an application and from that point it takes 4-6 weeks to get a crew out to bring the gas over. They said that there would be no charge from them to hook the gas up to my house because the main line is less than 100 feet away. The cost comes from buying a new furnace and hiring a plumber to do the install. To have the plumber hook up gas for a stove, dryer, etc. is more money on top of that. I actually have a guy coming over to give me an estimate tomorrow. FM me if you want the details tomorrow night!

Oh yayyyyyyyy! So excited that you're having an estimate for this because you live near me I think...?
My aunt told me she didn't have the gas line and got National Grid to give her an estimate and it was $32,000!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so jealous!!! The nearest gas line is on our corner - 645 feet away at $65 per foot to run the line (but they give you 100 feet for free) so it was going to be $35,425 just to run the line!!!
