For ladies that recently had their kitchens done

What extra did you get that you love and you can't live without...Any special cabinet features etc...We're starting to get estimates next weekend and want to know what to look for, ask in general, and extras that I would not have known about normally.

I love the lazy susan in my corner cabinet and that's about it.

Self/easy close drawers (I think that's pretty standard)

I didn't get glass cabinets.

large pull out pantries on both sides of the fridge...$$$$$ but totally worth it...

i don't have a new kitchen - just the one that came with the house i bought but it has roll out shelves on the bottom cabinets which is great for my pots and pans (and other things too). i love that feature. i would have a hard time going back to regular shelves on the bottom after having the roll out shelves.

I have a rack to hang up my pots and pans, I had a pan drawer, but I really really hate it, so I now use it for bigger items.

I love my garbage disposal as well as my pull out pantries.

We have a corner cabinet with a lazy susan and the door folds in before it rotates- so much easier

we put in a knife block insert so that we could put a child lockon the drawer - good with little kids no to have knofe block on counter

above above our ovens we have a full cabinet with for holding platters, cutting boards, cookie sheets - very useful


also we have a spice rack on a cabinet door - and shelf is cut back- easy to see spices this way

Two Favorite things on my Cabinets:

One is if you have or going to have (for example) a pantry......the slide out cabinets are soooo convenient. I love them.

Second thing I love is the safeguard feature.....for example, when the utensil drawer closes.....as soon as it gets maybe an inch before it completely closes....it slows down. So your fingers will never get shut on by accident. LOL

-swivel cabinet in corner
-pull out drawer for pots and pans
-we have two huge drawers that we put snacks in.
-we also have two clear glass doors that show our nice dishes

-built in soap dispenser next to sink

-tilt out drawer under sink to hold sponges, etc. (love this)

I love my kitchen - I love the pull out drawers for the pots/pans, I love having the garbage can and recycling in a pull out drawer and I also had a larger filler in the upper cabinets so that you pull it out and it holds my spices!!

Drawers instead of cabinets.

We have 4 huge, deep drawers instead of your classic two shelf cabinet and I get the most use out of it as well as the most compliments.

Here is our list:

Slow close drawers

an attachment to the hinge so they are also slow close and you can't slam them (we have Kraftmaid and purchased it through them)

draw microwave...great space saver for the counters

cutlery drawer organizer...mine is 2 tier and holds a lot of stuff in one drawer

tilt out sponge holder

pull out garbage bag

I really don't like lazy susan's, so while I do have one on the bottom cabinet, the top is a actually a 90 degree cabinet so when you open the door the shelves make an L shape. It still has the bi-fold doors like the lazy susan. I love this cabinet. You can easily reach anything you need in there.

All my door base cabinets have at least 1 pull out shelf

If you have extra room the 12 inch base pan organizer is a nice feature. I had it in the old kitchen and didn't get it when we redid it because we didn't have room
