First, I would remove the bench that is to the right of the two chairs you have and then center the chairs with the table between them. I was going to also suggest perhaps turning the sectional so that the chaise part is on the small wall by the front door, but the pic is dark and I can't tell what you already have on that wall.

If you were able to turn the couch, I would then turn the dining room table to be cross-wise from the china cabinet.

I also think the rug would look better by the couches, it looks kind of awkward where it is now.

You have alot of great pieces but I feel like they are spaced apart.

I would turn the couch so that it's backed up to that wall on the left side of the pic.

I'd put that rug under the dining room set. Have you tried using those two arm chairs as head of table chairs? (swap them out?)

Another thing, I can't tell by the pictures, but would you be able to put the dining room cabinet in between those two windows on the right and move the dining room set?

just giving you different ideas.. hope it makes sense!

I was just thinking - if you are able to turn the sectional, you may have room to put those two chairs on the back wall with the table and then you can leave the bench in the entryway, maybe get some pretty throw pillows in coordinating colors to pick up the colors in the chairs and the rug.

There are so many ways I want to see this room rearranged!!

What piece of furniture is against the wall next to the door? It looks like the side of an entertainment center? I like the pp's idea of turning the sectional so the long part is under the window.

I'd actually like to see the dining rom & china cabinet moved to where the sectional is now. Move the sectional underneat the opposite window with that small console table behind it (in between the sectional and wall with window).

I think that bench needs to be removed, it doesn't seem to go there. If anything, remove the two chairs and get a large heftier bench with cushions to put against the stair railing.

I also would like to see the sectional and the two floral chairs together - opposite eachother. Is the room big enough to do that with having the DR table there too?

I really like the pieces you have and the color your choose but I would try moving things around.

I think you are loosing the height of the ceiling with the china cabinet placed off center like that. Can you move the china cabinet to the wall opposite the sofa? If you can do that I would move the dr table to the front of the room and put the table you have between the windows against the back wall.

For the LR its hard to see exactly what the sofa set up is. I would try to swing it around so the back of the sofa is against the window. I would bring the chairs into the LR and set it up as a conversation area with the sofa. Move the rug into the LR or DR which ever room it fits better in.

Try the bench on its own centered against the railing with a colorful throw or big pillows up against the railing. Add a small entry rug by the door if you feel you need it.

Unify the window treatments and add some great art and you are set.

Your house is very nice and i love your furniture. I would try moving the dining room table where the 2 chairs and bench are. From the picture, it looked like you would have enough room to center it where the rug is and still have room to walk in the front door comfortably. Then, I would put the 2 chairs where your couch is and the couch where the dining room table is, but facing the back window so it is like a sitting area. I would love to know how everything works out.

I am not feeling that white bench in the dining room. My eye goes straight to it. I feel like it stops the flow of the room. I think that piece belongs somewhere closer to the floral chairs (closer to square one I know..)

ETA Maybe use the bench as an ottoman between the two floral chairs and place it on the floral rug. Add a solid color throw that ties the two floral pieces together.

I think the chairs look out of place there, I would put them by that window and remove that sectional and get something smaller to make a seating area there.

Where the chairs are now I would get a dining room server or sofa table to go there.


It just seems as if the dining room and sitting room are all bunched together in one space

I think the sectional is too big for the space. I really think that may add to the awkward feeling of the space.
