Hiring a guy to deliver furniture **UPDATE**
We bought a gorgeous Ethan Allen dining set at St. Vincent de Paul's thrift shop this weekend. Got it for a steal! Now we need to hire someone to deliver it for us. Basically, we just need a guy who has a truck because the table, server, and 6 chairs wouldn't fit in our car.
How much should we expect to pay for this? The shop put us in touch with some guy who does this kind of thing around their neighborhood, and I want to be prepared when he gives us a quote. Thanks!
Update - I spoke to "Joe" and he's going to deliver the whole set for $85.

i had a small moving company in farmingdale pick up a dining room set from my aunt's house and brought it to my apartment about 2 years ago. they charged us around $300 and it probably took about an hour. there were also 3 guys.

I know, right? A mahogany table, 6 chairs and a buffet/server for under 1000 bucks. It was hard to keep from squealing and jumping up and down in the store.
If we lived in Suffolk they would have delivered it for $75, but apparently they can't deliver to Nassau. I hope that "Joe" - the guy with the truck - isn't going to ask for $300 to deliver when the store would have done it for $75 (I'm only 20 minutes away, just in a different county).

Why not rent a u-haul and have DH and maybe a relative or friend help him. I would think that would be the cheapest.
