ANOTHER dishwasher question...
Everyday I see a TV commercial where a person puts in a nasty dirty caked on dish straight into the dishwasher. I don't think I have ever done this when I had a dishwasher in my home, but I have always been curious to see if my dishwasher would be up to the task. Im a rinser. Do you rinse/wipe/scour your dishes/whatnot before you put them into the dishwasher or do you take your chances? Just curious.

I always rinse... I just don't like the idea of food going down the drain and I can't stand the smell of a dirty dishwasher.

I put everthing right in. Detergent works best when there is food residue.

DH and I have this discussion all of the time.
I sort of rinse..he wants to totally rinse.
Not all of the stuff gets clean all of the time regardless.

I don't rinse. I don't see the point to wash it twice.
DH is a huge rinser.
If he does not like the way I load the dishwasher, he can do it himself. Which he does!!!

We never rinse. We just scrape off the bulk of the food into the garbage, but anything else stays on the dishes. Been doing that with the same dishwasher for 10+ years, and haven't had any problems.

Even though I have a brand new dishwasher, I still rinse.
I rinse because I don't run the dishwasher everyday and I don't want my dishwasher to smell.

I find that if i dont rinse them completely the dishwasher doesnt do as good a job... i sometimes still have food stuck on things and then will just wash myself

I have a brand new dishwasher. its an energy star model and we rinse EVERYTHING. my mom wanted to put her dishes in it yesterday and thought it was clean since we rinse everythng so well.
the new energy star ones don't seem to use as much water so they don't clean as well. I found the same thing happening with out washing machine and its energy star as well. our older, not such great brands worked better then these higher end brand new ones but the energy star ones are pretty much all you can buy these days

my dh is the dish petter awayer and he does not rinse ...but i find that im usually re-washing a bunch of stuff after unloading the dish washer

I am so amazed, I thought you HAD to rinse. Now I don't want to! I am also using the cascade power packs and am one of those people where you can't tell if the DW is clean or dirty from my rinsing!

Every thing usually sits in the sink before getting put in the dishwasher, so I rinse everything before putting in the dishwasher. There have been times when I open the dishwasher and can't tell if they are dirty or clean since I rinse them so well.

I rinse. I find when they are not rinsed well (ahem, DH ) the particles wind up elsewhere, on a spoon or cup  and I have to re wash them.
