when planning your wedding or any big party did you ever once consider....
what sporting events like superbowl, world series season might be going on? My dh and I were having this conversation and she says he would never plan his wedding when it could be world series time being a huge yankees fan.Also he said he would never have say a christening on superbowl or in jan when there big playoff games. i think he is nuts, anyone else have thoughts!

DH talks about this stuff all the time! So do his friends. I know one of his friends has been venting about having to go to a christening this weekend and "who plans a christening on a Sunday during FB season"..

Oh my gosh, we had our wedding on a Yankees play off day and we went on our honeymoon while they were in the world series last year and DH was soooo upset!

Before we got married DH got invited to a wedding on superbowl sunday (it was a coworker's wedding). Before even telling me about this he respond NO because he was not going to miss the superbowl.

Absolutely!!!!!! We are big sports fans.
I personally find it inconsiderate to do it on Super Bowl Sunday. That's like a Holiday. But I also find it inconsiderate when people plan it for REAL holidays too. My brother planned his on Thanksgiving weekend. That didn't go over too well with all the money people had to pay for plane tickets and hotel rooms.
But there is always something. We did get married on the weekend of the NCAA basketball tournament. There was no way I could turn down April Fools Day though.  Yet, my cousin got angry because she is an accountant and that is her busy time.
This year my SIL is getting married at a bad time for me: TV Sweeps. When you work in TV you aren't allowed off during sweeps without an act of congress.
So, in reality, no matter what day you choose, someone will be angry.

Never considered any of that at all...
but i'm not a huge sports fan. DH is, but he likes ALL sports and so we pretty much watches some sport religiously year round.

I would never plan a party for super bowl sunday other wise I probably wouldn't think about it. There's no way to really know what teams that make it to playoffs and when championship games will take place.

didnt think about it because it wasnt an issue for our dates, but i do remember a bunch of adults watching a playoff game in the other room during someone's bar mitzvah

I love when we get invitations for things and he's like, who has a party on Sunday during football season?? Um, lots of people . I remember when we were meeting with our DJ and there was another couple there and I overheard them talking and they were planning on having their wedding the same day as the NYC marathon. The DJ and I both told them it would be a nightmare for their guests coming from SI/NJ. Gotta think of these things...

I never thought about it, but one of my cousins got married during the Yankees World Series. The groom was actually standing at the bar outside of the reception room (where there happened to be a small tv) to watch the game!

my friend had to go to a bridal shower the same day as Rockaway St. Pattys Day Parade and she was devestated... there are just certain things that are important to people that they dont like to miss... (if she wasnt in the wedidng party she definitely would have said no)

Of course. I never would plan a party, wedding or otherwise on a Sunday during football season. DH and I are huge football fans and it's the one sport we really like.

Yes. DH and I are both HUGE baseball fans (me Yankees, him Mets). We planned our wedding around the All-Star game, so we'd miss as little baseball as possible. Although we then went on a 3 week honeymoon and ruined that ...

Not just super bowl, for my DH is any possible football game, college or NFL. Summer was best for us, fall would have been a no go for him. He has gone to hotel bars in the middle of weddings to check scores. His brother is getting married on a Saturday in October at a place with no TV, he's going to have the internet on his phone out the whole time.

I also make sure i have no plans for Shark Week... lol
Sports and a few random shows and Shark Week are the only things i really watch on tv... besides movies...

yes, we're huge yankee fans
our wedding was planned for the end of the regular season (which was usually a tampa bay game, back then, no biggie...half the regular starters wouldn't even be on the field) turned out to be the very first season that they opened and closed the season vs Boston and to top it off.....they clinched the division that day!!
the game was on in the limo and the bridal suite

DH had a nervous breakdown last year when we had a Christening on a Sunday during football season. I easily calmed him by saying there will be other guys there. & you could guess that all the guys where on their cell phones & found a bar close by that was showing the game.
Our wedding this past April was during the NFL draft. Yeah we got some crap from the groomsmen because of that.
