How much is your monthly water bill?
I have LI American Water and my bill has been between $50 and $65 monthly. It's just DH, DS and I in the house - we don't have IGS and run the dishwasher maybe twice a week.
It just seems high to me...
What do you end up paying a month? Is this that off-base?

V, We have IGS so its a bit higher but when I called to question the bill the explain they charge more for water during the summer months. My bill quadrupled since spring

It used to be about $25/mo. With the heat wave and us watering a lot more, it jumped up to around $35/mo. Last month it was over $40.
It's just two of us. We do a lot of laundry, but we have an HE washer that uses less water. We sometimes shower 2x per day between riding, working out, and just life. We have IGS, but it's on a well, not on our water bill.

Really? I was wondering why it seemed our water bill went up disproptionately to our usage in the summer...

I feel stupid and confused.. I didn't know there was any choice for water? We get a bill every 3 months from SCWA for about 35 dollars?

SCWA - its usually around $30 and we wash diapers every day. We have IGS only in the back, and they run every 3 days.
Maybe your washer is using a lot of water. Do you have a front loader?
ETA: This amount is for every 3 months.

I almost died when we got our water bill yesterday...it was for the last 3 months but still...it was $222. We water our grass twice a day....yeah, that's going to stop.

About $5 a month (we get billed every quarter for about $15-17).
ETA: we have Jericho Water District.

our last bill was $70 for 2 months
we don't have IGS
we have a pool that we constantly had to keep filling
we watered the gardens every day

I hope not 4-5x mine! I am getting even more annoyed that mine was so high...I guess the igs don't help but seriously...how is everyone else's soooo much lower? There are only 2 of us and I have a new front load washer. The last month or so our landscaper recommended that we water 3 times a day so I'm sure that's not helping. I do have to say we have the greenest grass on the block....and less green in our wallets because of it.

I was going to post this too- and the water pressure is awful!!! We cringe when the water bill comes in the mail- I do not know which is worse Aqua water or LIPA. I had heard that the town is trying to take over aqua and try to do something.

There was an article in Newsday yesterday saying how they are worried that the leakage from the old Gruman site could get into the water supplies of South Farmingdale water and Aqua NY carriers as well!

totally agree with this, i am experiencing the same things- crappy water pressure and high bills
